Beer is the most popular beverage in the world, especially in men. It tastes good, has refreshing properties and ideal quantity of alcohol. For many men, it is a perfect drink. In spite of its popularity, beer has less favorable side – it causes belly fat to grow. But, how? In comparison with other alcohol drinks, it has a relative lesser alcohol quantity, c. 170 calories, results in men’s consumption of more pints of beer a day. If we take into account that one pint of beer amounts approximately 170 calories, then drinking a few bottles of beer can significantly increase the overall calorie intake. Furthermore, alcohol triggers the liver to work harder in order to detoxify our body. In this way, the liver’s capacity to burn fat decreases, which additionally increase fat deposits. Unfortunately, man’s body constitution accumulates this fat around the waistline, causing the belly fat. If we want to avoid forming of belly fat, we can consult the article “Beer Bellies” that explains how we can reduce the risk and decrease belly fat.

How Does Beer Affect Belly Fat?

For starters, it isn’t going to be easy. Visceral fat is stubborn and it will take some hard work to make it go away. Your best bet is to use a multipronged attack: Consume fewer calories (including those brewskies) and start moving your body. Fat-burning, or aerobic, exercise is going to be your biggest ally in the war against the beer belly. Run, walk, swim, bike, play team sports — you can do nearly anything as long as you’re building up a sweat. Try to exercise five times a week for at least 30 minutes each session.

It’s always a good idea to augment fat-burning exercise with strength training, but start slowly and give your muscles a day or two of rest between weight training. Also, no matter what those late-night infomercials tell you, there’s no way to spot-reduce a beer belly into submission. No number of sit-ups is going to give you washboard abs if your stomach is buried under a layer of fat — your muscles will be getting stronger, but they will also be invisible because they’re covered with flab.

Beer or bust

Beer belly, pot belly, muffin top, love handles — you can use whichever cutesy nickname you like to describe that paunch around your middle, but it all boils down to the same unpleasant reality known as belly fat.
If you’re one of the lucky men who have danced through life paunch-free so far, don’t think you’re safe from developing a beer belly. The best way to prevent flab from making a home on your waistline is to live as if you’re trying to get rid of it. Eat healthy foods, stay active and when you indulge in alcohol, do so in moderation. This should go a long way toward making sure the dreaded beer belly stays far away from you.

An additional issue with drinking beer is snacks and food that we are craving for after beer. We are more prone to eat fatty and spicy food when drinking beer. From the other side, the beer even provokes hunger. We often feel hunger after consuming beer, no matter whether we have a meal before or not. In this way begins the whole chain reaction of beer-hunger-fatty foods-fats deposits. According to experts, beer contains estrogen compounds that affect our hormonal level, causing thereby hormonal imbalance. This imbalance, also, contributes in shaping of belly fat. Thus, we can conclude that the most we can do in order to prevent our body from belly fat is to decrease consuming beers significantly and keep it at its minimum. Moderate consumption will not harm our body figure, and still will retain its good properties – to calm and refresh us.
