Recently, many experts and scientists have been focusing on the alternative remedies’ effects in treating general illnesses. Some people even claim that traditional medicine can’t treat these ailments. Thus, this has led to many people seeking for alternative solutions and medicines to treat their illnesses. One uncommon illness which stems from thyroid gland’s malfunctioning is hypothyroidism. This illness can lead to the insufficient production of thyroxine, the thyroid gland’s hormone. For those who don’t know where the thyroid gland is, it is located just below the “Adams apple” at the lower end of the neck. Similar to other well functioning body organs, the thyroid gland doesn’t just cease to function at a sudden. It only starts to malfunction when some unfavorable conditions thrive. So if you just eat any food your eyes see without any consideration, then you should also consider that your internal body organs will also be badly affected presenting them inefficient.

Fortunately, there are foods that can restrain thyroxine production. Some of them include cabbage, cauliflowers, soybeans, broccoli, mustard greens, etc. Overindulging of foods such as dairy products, refined foods, and sugar should be evaded. If an individual finds out that he has hypothyroidism, he should avoid alcohol, wheat and caffeine. He should also begin adding fatty acids in his daily diet. The thyroid glands can be aided to produce thyroxine by taking in approximately 1000-15000mg of these significant fatty acids three times a day.  Studies also showed that vitamins A, B, C and E are significant in improving thyroid’s health and in the production of thyroxine. However, before taking them, it is important to consult first a doctor to know the amount and the period of taking the said vitamins. Dieticians also recommend supplements like selenium, L-tyrosine and calcium. You can apply all these, but consult first your doctor before staring to utilize them.
